Sweet onions, buttery dough, creamy cheese, and a scatter of thyme turn into a golden flatbread with deep savory edges and a rich, cozy aroma. A few spoonfuls of Roasted Onion & Garlic Infused Olive Oil Blend carry roasted onion, garlic, and smooth olive oil flavor through the onions as they caramelize, giving every slice a full, layered finish. It is an easy dinner-party bite, a weekend lunch, or the kind of snack that disappears fast at the table.

Caramelized Onion Flatbread using Roasted Onion & Garlic Infused Olive Oil Blend
Ingredients
- 1 sheet pizza dough about 13.8 ounces
- 3 tablespoons Roasted Onion & Garlic Infused Olive Oil Blend

- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded fontina cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup arugula optional for topping
- 1 tablespoon cornmeal for dusting the pan
Method
- 1. Preheat the oven to 450°F and place a baking sheet or pizza stone inside to heat.
- 2. Heat 2 tablespoons of the Roasted Onion & Garlic Infused Olive Oil Blend and the butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat.
- 3. Add the sliced onions, salt, and sugar, then cook slowly, stirring often, until the onions turn soft, golden, and deeply caramelized, about 18 to 22 minutes.
- 4. Stir in the balsamic vinegar and cook for 1 minute more, then remove the pan from the heat.
- 5. Lightly dust a piece of parchment with cornmeal and stretch the pizza dough into a thin oval or rectangle.

- 7. Spoon the caramelized onions evenly over the cheese.
- 8. Transfer the flatbread on the parchment to the hot baking sheet or stone and bake until the crust is crisp and the cheese is bubbling, about 10 to 13 minutes.
- 9. Remove from the oven, top with parsley and arugula if using, slice, and serve warm.

Cook the onions low and slow until they turn deeply golden and sweet. If your flatbread base starts to puff in the oven, gently press it down with a spatula so the toppings stay put. For a sharper finish, add the arugula after baking instead of before.
Serving Suggestions
Serve this flatbread hot from the oven with a simple green salad, tomato soup, or a bowl of olives. It also works well sliced into small pieces for entertaining, game day, or a casual appetizer board.
Storage
Store leftover slices in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on a baking sheet in a 375°F oven until the crust turns crisp again.
Variations
Try fontina, provolone, or smoked mozzarella in place of the mozzarella. Add sliced mushrooms, roasted red peppers, or a few kalamata olives for a different savory angle. For a lighter version, finish with extra herbs and a drizzle of olive oil after baking.
