Instructions
- In a large bowl, stir together the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it stand for 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the flour, salt, and Popcorn Infused Olive Oil Blend, then mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 6 to 8 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place it in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 45 minutes, or until doubled.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Sprinkle each sheet lightly with cornmeal.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 7- to 8-inch rope and place the ropes on the prepared sheets.
- In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, garlic, garlic powder, and black pepper. Brush half of the mixture over the breadsticks.
- Bake for 8 minutes, then sprinkle the breadsticks with Parmesan cheese and brush on the remaining garlic butter.
- Return to the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes more, until the breadsticks are golden and the cheese is lightly melted.
- Finish with chopped parsley, then serve warm.
Notes
For the best texture, keep the dough soft but not sticky. If it feels dry, add water 1 tablespoon at a time. If you want a stronger cheese finish, add a little extra Parmesan right after baking while the breadsticks are still hot.
