Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 5 cups peeled and sliced apples about 5 medium apples, mixed Granny Smith and Honeycrisp
  • 2 tablespoons Garden Infuzions Allspice Infused Olive Oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes
  • 1 tablespoon Garden Infuzions Allspice Infused Olive Oil

Equipment

  • 1 8-inch square baking dish or similar 2-quart baking dish
  • 1 Large mixing bowl for apple filling
  • 1 Medium mixing bowl for crumble topping
  • 1 set Measuring cups and spoons for accurate dry and liquid measurements
  • 1 Pastry cutter optional; fingertips work too

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish or a similar 2-quart baking dish.
  2. Add the sliced apples to a large bowl, then toss with the Allspice Infused Olive Oil, lemon juice, and vanilla until the fruit is evenly coated.
  3. Sprinkle the apples with brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt, then toss again until the slices look glossy and lightly coated.
  4. Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
  5. In a separate bowl, stir together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the crumble topping.
  6. Add the cold butter cubes and rub them into the oat mixture with your fingertips or a pastry cutter until the topping forms small, buttery clumps.
  7. Drizzle in 1 tablespoon Allspice Infused Olive Oil and gently toss the crumble until a few larger clusters form.
  8. Scatter the topping evenly over the apples, keeping some texture and small clumps on the surface.
  9. Bake for 38 to 42 minutes, until the apples are bubbling around the edges and the topping is golden brown.
  10. Let the crumble rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving so the filling settles slightly and the topping stays crisp.

Notes

For the best texture, choose apples that hold their shape when baked, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, or Pink Lady. If the topping browns too quickly before the apples bubble, tent the dish loosely with foil for the final 10 minutes of baking.
