Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 6 medium baking apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons Cinnamon Infused Olive Oil
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup Cinnamon Infused Olive Oil
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

Equipment

  • 1 8-inch square baking dish For baking the crisp
  • 2 Mixing bowl One for fruit, one for topping
  • 1 Wooden spoon or spatula For mixing
  • 1 set Measuring cups and spoons For accurate prep
  • 1 Peeler For the apples

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish or similar baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and 3 tablespoons Cinnamon Infused Olive Oil until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
  4. In a second bowl, stir together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and walnuts.
  5. Drizzle in 1/4 cup Cinnamon Infused Olive Oil and the maple syrup, then mix until the topping forms crumbly clusters.
  6. Scatter the topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for 38 to 42 minutes, until the fruit is bubbling at the edges and the topping is golden brown.
  8. Let the crisp rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving so it scoops neatly.
  9. Serve warm on its own or with your favorite topping.

Notes

Choose apples that hold their shape well, like Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or a mix of sweet and tart varieties. If the topping browns quickly, loosely cover the dish with foil for the last 10 minutes of baking. For extra texture, add more chopped walnuts or replace part of them with pecans.
