Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish or similar baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and 3 tablespoons Cinnamon Infused Olive Oil until evenly coated.
- Spread the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
- In a second bowl, stir together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and walnuts.
- Drizzle in 1/4 cup Cinnamon Infused Olive Oil and the maple syrup, then mix until the topping forms crumbly clusters.
- Scatter the topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 38 to 42 minutes, until the fruit is bubbling at the edges and the topping is golden brown.
- Let the crisp rest for 10 to 15 minutes before serving so it scoops neatly.
- Serve warm on its own or with your favorite topping.
Notes
Choose apples that hold their shape well, like Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or a mix of sweet and tart varieties. If the topping browns quickly, loosely cover the dish with foil for the last 10 minutes of baking. For extra texture, add more chopped walnuts or replace part of them with pecans.
