Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or a large oven-safe casserole dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp, then transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving about 1 tablespoon of drippings in the pan.
- Add the onion to the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring often, until softened and lightly golden. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.
- Add the Missouri Kansas City Sweet & Smokey BBQ Infused Olive Oil Blend, navy beans, kidney beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne, water, and most of the bacon. Stir until everything is well coated.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
- Bake uncovered for 45 to 55 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the sauce is thick, the beans are bubbling, and the top looks glossy.
- Sprinkle the remaining bacon over the beans and let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving so the sauce settles a little.
- Serve warm.
Notes
These beans hold up well on a buffet or picnic table, and the sauce gets even richer after a short rest. If you like a sweeter finish, add another tablespoon of brown sugar before baking. For a little more smoke, use a darker barbecue sauce with a molasses-forward profile.
