Slow-simmered beans, crisp bacon, sweet onions, and a glossy barbecue sauce come together in a pan that smells like a backyard cookout from the first stir. The Missouri Kansas City Sweet & Smokey BBQ Infused Olive Oil Blend layers chipotle, smoked paprika, and savory herb notes into the pot so the beans pick up a deeper barbecue finish as they bake. It is the kind of side dish that fits right in at a summer cookout, game day spread, or family dinner, and it always disappears fast.

BBQ Baked Beans with Missouri KC Sweet & Smokey BBQ Infused Olive Oil
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Missouri Kansas City Sweet & Smokey BBQ Infused Olive Oil Blend
- 6 slices bacon chopped
- 1 medium yellow onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 cans 15 ounces each navy beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can 15 ounces kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup water
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or a large oven-safe casserole dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crisp, then transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving about 1 tablespoon of drippings in the pan.
- Add the onion to the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring often, until softened and lightly golden. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.
- Add the Missouri Kansas City Sweet & Smokey BBQ Infused Olive Oil Blend, navy beans, kidney beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne, water, and most of the bacon. Stir until everything is well coated.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
- Bake uncovered for 45 to 55 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the sauce is thick, the beans are bubbling, and the top looks glossy.
- Sprinkle the remaining bacon over the beans and let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving so the sauce settles a little.
- Serve warm.

Let us know how it was!Recipe Tips
Let the beans bake until the sauce thickens and the top turns glossy and caramelized. If the mixture looks a little loose before baking, give it a few extra minutes on the stove so the flavors can settle together.
Serving Suggestions
Serve these beans next to pulled pork sandwiches, grilled burgers, ribs, hot dogs, or cornbread. They also work well as part of a potluck table with slaw, potato salad, and pickles.
Storage
Cool the beans completely, then store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the oven with a splash of water if needed to loosen the sauce.
Variations
For a meatless version, leave out the bacon and use olive oil to sauté the onions. You can also stir in diced bell pepper, a little extra brown sugar, or a spoonful of mustard for a different flavor edge.
